The increasing access to information on the internet has created more problems than solutions, especially in the security field where scams are prominent as swindler are able to obtaining personal information through social networking sites.

With the usage of social networking sites, more personal information is floating in the internet. This information can be accessed very easily and can be used to plan deceiving scams. The usage of personal information make these scams convincing. Therefore, people easily fall for them and may suffer huge monetary losses. However, social networking sites have made communication effective and convenient. Due to social networking communication is possible without having to meet physically.

A good example to illustrate this point is the use of a popular social networking site Facebook as a form of networking communication by numerous people. The ease of not having to meet physically thus making communication convenient has made it popular. On the other hand, its nature of allowing strangers to view their personal information also opens it up to a higher chance of people falling for scams as swindler are able to obtain first hand information about a particular person without much trouble.

As such, the increase access to information on the internet is actually more of a bane than a boon. Social networking sites are useful tools when it comes to effective communication. However, individuals can be in danger when their personal information have been used by swindler for the wrong reasons
